A musical project formed of two Brighton based songwriters Peter Harwood and Matthew Parisi.
They first met when Matthew auditioned for The Recoil of which Peter fronted. The Recoil were given a record deal in 2005, were heard all over the American airwaves and were set to ride the wave of British rock acts when the label refused to release the album and a change of management set about the ultimate demise of the band.
Having formed a great relationship, Peter and Matthew started writing together across various genres and set about creating a writing team and production house.
Upon initial demos they received a lot of interest from managers and city financiers and were quickly involved in what was set to be a multi million pound deal to set up a new production company. However, the state of the economic climate stalled the deal, leaving Peter and Matthew to start again from scratch.
Fed up of being reliant on major labels and city funding, NewStateMasses was formed as a way of releasing their own music and collaborating with other artists.
After years of writing and recording music they can finally allow people to hear it in their own terms, without management, without major labels and being completely in control
