Flevans is the musical alter-ego of Nigel Evans, a British musician and DJ renowned the world-over for his trademark chipper funk and soul-infused dancefloor productions. Despite humble beginnings knocking together tracks on a four-track cassette recorder, his innate knack for crafting irresistible hooks was noticed by Tru Thoughts who promptly issued a couple of singles followed by his first album ‘Make New Friends’ in 2004 which combined a fresh mix of disco and funk with cut and paste sampling sensibilities and infectious basslines. Spurred on by the success of his debut, he went on to release his sophomore effort ‘Unfabulous’ in 2007 again to great critical acclaim. For his third release, ’27 Devils’, Flevans made the bold move of ditching samples and going completely live, even adding his own vocals to a couple of tracks.
Skip to the present and Flevans is busying himself writing material for a new album under the moniker “Aotoa” due to be released in 2015.
